Trijicon

The eye relief on this scope is in my opinion the largest benefit. I shoot NTC and the smaller FOV (19.3 at 100) makes the BAC real easy to use. I also find the smaller FOV, eye relief, and overall small diameter of this ACOG to be REAL nice in keeping the sight picture concise and my Trijicon Trijiconsurroundings unobstructed. Comparatively, the TA11 now seems WAY too heavy and the TA31 feels like my eyeball has to molest the scope from 1.5" out to maintain a sight picture. The small overall size and extra 0.4" of eye relief makes all the difference in the world. I’m now spoiled.

beretta mini-cougar magazines

Like JohnStoner, I have two M9A1s with beretta mini-cougar magazines. Accuracy, reliability, and totally dependable in all weather- snow, rain, dry, heat and dust- whatever, NEVER a problem. About 4,500 rounds fired between the two of them. I’ve retired my Kimber 1911s, in favor of my Berettas. The Kimbers are strictly for loan WHEN TSHTF… The M9A1 is my "go to" handgun, and unlikely to change.

Yeah, you want two. One for each hand. That gives you forty-two shots before reloading, and two different direcions to shoot… Easy with a 9mm, but try it sometime with a pair of 9.5" Ruger Super Redhawks! I have, but I’ll stick with the M9A1’s, thanks… In all seriousness, the 9mm with the proper ammo, AND proper placement, is just as well going to take-out the trash, as my dusty Kimber Beretta 92 Magazine. I won’t change back- no reason to.

Nope, the M9A1 is the choice of the Marine Embassy Security Details, and my choice as well… So too, are the Mec-Gar 20rd Anti-Friction Coated magazines, and the Pro-Mag 33rd Beretta 21Magazines, though I load only 32 in mine… Both magazines fit both of my CX4 Storms perfectly…

rparrish, I use Gold Dots, both 124gr and 147gr, and know that whatever I hit, is going to go d-o-w-n… Having 21 rounds in either gun, makes for a warm feeling… I can’t really imagine a "real life" scenario for using 32rd magazines, but WHEN the SHTF, who knows? Having interchangable magazines with the CX4s, is a "good" thing…

To those who would try to compare the 1911 to the M9A1, I’d say, "beretta mini-cougar magazines, to yah, Buddy!" and "Why have only 11, with a Chip McCormick mag, when you can have 21?" Nah, that’d be petty. As I say, mine, my Kimber 1911s are now for loan-out when the SHTF… My best, I’m keeping for myself…

Colt 1903 magazine

Your post shows a complete lack of knowledge with respect to the subject at hand A Colt is an entirely different animal from a semi-custom (which you seem to acknowledge) and other than for an intended application, there is no fair basis of comparison between the two. The semi custom is a superior package in every way, including features, workmanship, fit, finish, and service. Colt 1903 magazines OTOH makes a production pistol which is in an entirely different class, competing with the likes of Kimber, Springfield, Para, etc.

North of $1,000? that’s like saying that Minnesota is miles north of Texas. If you can find a semi custom USED for $1,000, let me know and I’ll be on it like a fly circling over your post. As for investing $300 more in a Colt and it will ? no different than that of a Wilson or Baer… I don’t know what word(s) you ommitted in your post, but you cannot dress up a Colt with $300 and expect a fair basis of comparison with a semi custom. A couple of years back, Yost-Bonitz did a package to modify a Colt (or SA) at or beyond the level of your basic semi custom. The price of the work was about 1,000 for their entry package. Adding the price of the donor Colt 1903 magazine, you have a pistol that meets/exceeds a semi custom for the price that meets/exceeds the pricepoint of a semi custom. Colts are excellent platforms for customization and the potential is only limited by the artisan who works it, but the factory Colt is no bargain substitute for what you get in the other classes of pistols.

As to the OP, I can understand your reason for selecting a Colt 1903 magazines, and your sentiments are shared by thousands who insist on Colt for their production AND their custom needs. There is no denying the heritage, and that commands a niche market others cannot touch. Like others have said, the Gold Cup was made for target shooting, and I think that would be your best bet. I would look into the Talo if you have the money

Uncle Mikes Holsters

Recently I have taken the time to purchase all Galco carry pieces for my Colt 1911 carry gun Holsters and also more leather Holster for the High Power….let me tell you, there is a WORLD of difference between Fobus/Uncle Mikes type stuff and Galco/Mitch Rosen/SafariLand type stuff.

You absolutely cannot afford to buy cheap leather/kydex for a carry piece any more than you can afford to put a Simmons scope and 12 dollar weaver mounts on a Steyr PSG….and expect decent results anyhow.

I’ve had 2 and love them. I had one for my Sigma and it didn’t hold it well but it did hold it. My Uncle Mikes Holsters Glock 22 locks into mine and will stay in through just about cowboy holster. Only problem with them is that they can be two hard to get off my Tactical holster. Not really that big of a deal.

I got news, don’t like cheap stuff, fine, don’t buy it. That Video is BS, because those two are obviously trying to break that holster. I suspect I could do somehting similar with most any brand of paddle concealment holster out there. Paddle holsters are about convenience, not ultimate security, if you want 100% security, buy an UM pro-3. Personally, I own a Fobus for almost every pistol holster I own, and just placed an order for 3 more. I have been Using Fobus since they came out, weekley, for IPSC and 3gun competitions, and have abused the heck out of them with ZERO problems. About a year ago, at a 3gun match, I fell during a stage. I was wearing a Fobus C21 1911 paddle Uncle Mikes Holster. I fell hard, directly on the Handgun Holster, with the rear sight of my pistol digging into a barricade. The concealment holster was strong enough that it ripped my jeans and flipped me over as I fell without breaking.

FObus haters are Just like Wolf Haters, they cannot be reasoned with or dissuaded. They feel if you didn’t spend as much money as possible or at least much as they did, then you are inferior as a human being. It’s your money, spend it however you like.

can’t they get in trouble for misrepresenting the law? there should be some sort of felonious punishment for that. If they can blindside enough people into thinking that firearms are banned in that park, they may actually succeed in changing the laws there! Stupid freakin anti-gunners. From Hell’s Heart I hate their worthless commie tyrannous treasonous yellow guts!

Springfield Armory XD(M) Pistol: 16+1 Rounds of .40 S&W Firepower
By David Crane
defrev at gmail dot com

July 26, 2008

For the last few years, DefenseReview has received some pretty glowing feedback on the Springfield Armory XD45 (eXtreme Duty 45) .45 ACP pistol. One of the primary aspects of the XD45 pistol that the professionals we’ve interviewed appreciate is its fully-supported chamber which allows them to fire high-pressure +P and/or +P+ ammunition through it, which they can’t do through a Glock 21 (G21) / Glock 21SF (G21SF) or Glock 30 (G30) / Glock 30SF (G30SF) .45 ACP pistols, since they do not have fully-supported chambers. One of these rounds is the LeMas Ltd. BMT APLP 85-grain (85gr) .45 CQB round, which has a muzzle velocity of well over 2,000 FPS out of a 5-inch (5") Government Model 1911 pistol, and will penetrate NIJ Level IIIA body armor (bullet-resistant vest) with no problem and devastate the tissue immediately behind it. "BMT APLP" stands for "Blended Metal Technology Armor-Piercing Limited-Penetration".

The reason we bring all this up is that we recently read about the new Springfield Armory XD(M) .40 S&W pistol a.k.a. Springfield Armory eXtreme Duty Mega-Capacity/M-factor .40S&W pistol, which holds an impressive 16+1 rounds thanks to its "Mega-Capacity Magazine" and sports a "Minimal Reset Trigger" (quick-reset trigger) that, according to the marketing literature,…

Re: O/U for trap
Trap guns are set up so you always have the bird in sight when you pull the trigger. They tend to have longer barrels. Skeet guns are short and light.

Bear hunting

Our original area is approximately 1,100 square miles in size. For the last 4 seasons, we have leased a portion of 2 bordering hunting concessions. These leased areas more than double the size of our original area, bringing the total size to over 1.6 million acres of exclusive hunting area. Hunting pressure is light. The entire area is very mountainous; there are numerous lakes and rivers throughout the territory, most with excellent fishing. The major watersheds are the Finlay, Thudaka, Kwadacha, Kechika, Jackstone and Frog Rivers. We are located in North Central BC, approximately 150-200 miles south of the Yukon border, and dead center, between the Cassiar and Alaska Highways. Stone Sheep, Mountain Goat, Mountain Caribou, Canada Moose, Rocky Mountain Elk, Grizzly, Black Bear & Wolf are hunted here.

Probably better that it is only minimally visible. These days you show up with a gun belt fulla bullets and people start freakin. It’s why I prefer to carry concealed (unless I am on the way to the range.) Open carry just garners too much attention, especially when I carry my 1911 (the fancy one in the photo album.)
